My story as an architect officially began in 1990 in my native land, Brazil, when I graduated as a fully qualified architect. This started my career in the building industry and was the birth of my desire to design buildings that people want and, once built, love.
My job as a registered architect was to manage a design and construct practice. With teams of tradespeople and consultants as my allies, I was responsible for designing , managing the construction and supervising the sites. This holistic approach soon became my trademark.
The teams I worked with were very special groups of people. The tradespeople were a mix of form workers, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, painters and labourers; the consultants were engineers, surveyors and other professionals in the building trade. I worked and liaised with these people, and we became a network of trustworthy individuals who had two desires in common: to make the “vision” of drawings and plans come to life, and to deliver the best results.
"This is the soul of Yara Barrozo - architecture 4U work ethic – designs that work for you and your needs!"
After working for 9 years now in Australia, I have learnt about the country, associating with outstanding professional.
My Australian experience in the building industry has been developing over the past ten years. I migrated to Australia in 2002 and in 2004 was sponsored as a skilled migrant by Latemore Design, a company specialized in residential renovations particularly to Queenslanders. I stayed with this company for eight years.
During this time, I not only learnt about this country’s culture, technology and the habits of the people, but associated with outstanding professionals in the industry: builders, manufacturers, industry associations and professional bodies. I have created an enormous databank of information about Australian building materials, the impact of the weather, industry standards, working relations in this country, and most importantly, budget constraints.
In particular, I gained expertise in designing light timber framed constructions, and this exposure, combined with my already extensive understanding of concrete and steel construction, gave me an edge in creating innovative designs. It also gave me the confidence to explore different possibilities and advance my design skills.
Because the rules in Australia are different to those in Brazil, I am not yet licenced to supervise sites; nevertheless, just as in Brazil, I have surrounded myself with specialist builders and professionals and am fully informed of site practices in Australia.
Recently I earned my Medium Rise Building Designers Licence and am currently practising as a sole operator. My next goal is to apply for registration as an architect in Australia.
Team work is the catchcry of my work ethic and philosophy. I believe wholeheartedly in partnership as the key to achieving the best results. This partnership is between me and my team of tradespeople and consultants, but more importantly, between us and you, the client. It is, ultimately, all about you, the client.
Keeping in mind your needs and your budget, we can design and build your customised construction. Client, designer, builder and consultants – together we all have one goal: creating the building you want and will love.
We at Yara Borrozo are the team designed to build your dream!
